Wine Label Design for Premium Supermarket Brand: Tesco Finest Wines. Each label design needed to showcase the provenance, region, and winemaker story that defines every Finest wine.

The design challenge

The objective was to create wine label and packaging design that reflected the exceptional quality of Tesco Finest Wines. Each label needed to be unique to its region, clearly capturing an authentic and distinctive feel that resonated within the competitive wine and drinks branding category. The brief also focused on highlighting the individual character of each wine, giving customers a compelling reason to choose the product. Additionally, the design needed to strike a balance between premium aesthetics and clear, engaging storytelling. The end result needed to be a range of wine labels that appealed to both casual consumers and discerning wine enthusiasts.

This project was completed while freelancing for the very talented design agency Barlow & Co, working closely with their team to bring the client’s vision to life through carefully considered branding and creative packaging solutions.

The solution

The outcome was a series of premium wine labels that distinctively tell a compelling story of provenance and craftsmanship. We conducted extensive research into wine regions and heritage to create an authentic and unique look for every bottle, ensuring each design captured the essence of its origin.

Furthermore, to enhance the premium appeal, we designed labels to highlight regional characteristics and showcase the winemaker’s narrative in an elegant, sophisticated way. In addition, we carefully selected high-quality print finishes, textured papers, and craft details to reinforce the Finest brand. By incorporating subtle yet meaningful design elements, we ensured that each bottle stood out on the shelf while maintaining a consistent brand identity.

As a result, the final range exudes premium quality, commanding strong shelf presence and offering a luxurious feel in-hand. The combination of thoughtful design, authentic storytelling, and premium materials successfully positioned Tesco Finest Wines as a standout choice in the supermarket wine category.
